looking people up on 192.com

I saw a thread on here that mentioned https://www.192.com which seems a brilliant site to look people up to confirm their address on the e/register, I see that you have to pay a one off fee or an annual subscription, I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could look up addresses for other money saving ebayers as a favour, as the one off fee seems expensive, I know this board is very good at helping one another and I would like others to comment (nicely) on my idea, unless it has already been suggested before.

If you're only doing a few a day you can use [https://www.royalmail.com]royal mail[/url]. You have to register, but it's free!

  • thanks for that juno, but on 192.com they will find a name and tie it in with an address from the electoral register and tell you who else lives there. you only have to put in a name and area where they are supposed to live and it will give you their exact address.

    Hi lovelyjubbly

You don't have to pay a fee to 192.com for a basic search. Just go the page enter surname (I leave of initials and christian name as the search is from the electoral register might not be registered) and postcode that will give you the answer you are looking for normally.

All I want to know really is that the person who has bid and paid is one and the same person thus avoiding the dreaded..."fraudulent use of credit card chargeback".

    Try http://www.b4u.co.uk/index.cfm

Same thing as 192 but completely free. Just click on the "People" tab and then put the details in.

    Hope this helps

Presumably anyone who ticks the "no spam" box on the electoral registration form will not be there, so don't assume that they are crooks simply because they don't come up.

everyone on the electoral register is on it (or should be). The electoral register is a public document. There is no spamming involved.

Oh balls - you're right - just looked up myself!

It's very out of date though - listing someone who hasn't lived here for a long time.

And of course it won't pick up anyone who hasn't been at their address for up to more than one year, depending on when they moved in.

  • You don't actually have to pay to use https://www.192.com, you can get credits by following sponsored links/surveys so that's what I do instead of paying.

However it's not all that great, I'm not listed on there and I am definitely on the electoral roll with no opt-outs as far as I know.

Would disagree, there are two registers. The official electoral register where everyone is listed. Or there is the edited register which you can "opt out of" and they sell to on to whoever resulting in junk mail, calls etc
