How much study do you peeps do at uni?

Hiya everyone,
I'm a mature student, under 30 but over 25, studying at Leeds Uni.
Just wondering how many hours people study for their courses? When I was a first year I was told that we ought to do 200 learning hours for a 20 credit module, that includes lecture/seminar hours.
Does anyone do this much work? Do you do more, or less?
Only asking out of curiousity...I don't do anything like 200 hours over a semester for a 20 credit module.

A full time course at my uni is 8 modules per year, 4 each semester, and we are told each module should take around 10 hours of study per week.
That includes taught sessions though, which are generally 2-3 hours per module, per week.
I honestly don't know how many hours I put in.
I tend to study in long sessions, short sessions and little bits while cooking tea etc etc. Plus, I am always thinking about assignments anyway.
Plus I put in more hours as deadlines loom closer.
Sorry, that wasn't much of an answer was it? :rotfl:0 -
I never studied for anywhere near the amount of hours indicated by my uni.
I think as long as you do enough to complete your assignments and make sure you understand the course content (sometimes this required extra reading, sometimes is doesn't) then i think you'll be fine.0 -
Depending on the course you're doing some things you do you may not count as work. I did a degree in Literature and if you love reading, most of it wasn't like doing work.0

Thanks for the replies.
I don't measure how much time I put in, but I know it is less than the prescribed amount. The only time things really get intense is when I have an essay in the next day and I have yet to start

Oh, I know that one!!! :rotfl:0 -
I was told that too - 20 credit module = 200 hours dedicated to work. But this apparently counts lectures too.
I do about 50% of my weekly reading and the odd extra bit but only really do lots of work when I have essays.0 -
It really depends on how interesting i'm finding the module, how far away exams are and whether there are any assignments.
I do think I study alot (8 hours today and it's saturday) but I live a sterotypical student lifestyle with no responsibilities - i'm studying when i'm not sleeping/watching tv/drinking/clubbing/eating out/surfing the net. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Well to be fair it does completely depend on how easy you find the modules, how much work they try and make you do.
For instance, my first year, I have spent 90% of my time on here
but next year I don't think I will be able to do the same! 0
