I don't post very often so I hope nobody minds but things are beyond tight for us at the moment and things keep on breaking and bills keep coming and things are just getting worse. Anyway- moan over, sorry!!!

Question... Does anyone have any ideas of a cheap and I mean seriously cheap but nice present for a 1 year olds birthday. It's my friends baby, we're not that close but I do still feel I want to give a gift as we've been invited to the tea party. Any ideas???

As I said things are seriously tight, I have a few things stashed away for such occasions but nothing suitable for a baby.

    Thanks in advance

    BTW, its a little girl.

Is £5 too much? If not then how about this from Argos. My DD loves little people and still plays with them aged 6. Or you can get tubes of little people characters for around the same price.
We have brought a soft bodied baby doll from ToysRus for around £5. I can't see it on the website though. It came in pink or blue with a fine white stripe detail. It had a hard face but the rest was soft. Everyone who has recieved it has loved it.

Thinking some more and you could get a ball from wilkinsons for next to nothing or a bucket and spade for the summer wouldn't cost much.

If you have a camera how about doing some photography and putting a "my first birthday party" album together for her?
Just an entire little album of the day with all the partygoers photos - you could even get them to write a little message on nice scraps of papers to put with their pictures.
Should work out really cheap but effective if you have a digital camera and access to a computer and a nice momento when she is older and a great tradition to start!!
  • Wow!! So many replies, thank you everyone!

I'll have a good look into all of these ideas, thank you all so much!
