can you rent a council property if you already own a property?

    Also the council don't disallow people who smoke, drink, have sky, plasma screens, or any of the other costs that are not essential. They don't come and force you to stop smoking do they? No.
    So why should they force an old couple to sell their house when they pay full council rent and council tax? Think how many times over they have bought that house in the last 60 years.

    They have worked all their lives and produced two children, 4 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren, none of whom live in council accomodation, and nearly all of whom are professionals including a lawyer, a doctor and a teacher.

    So I think that council accomodation has served it's purpose pretty well in this instance- and they are in no way absusing the system.
