Silly Cow with fake claim

Hope someone can offer me some good tips!
It's for my aunt (problems, problems, I've posted somewhere else too about my sister and her bank).
She was driving on one of those roads with humps every five milliseconds when a child open his door and popped out.
He was not hit by the car but he fell back (probably from the shock).
His foolish mum got out the other side and didn't even bother to do anything.
Hardly any English so my aunt thought she'd call for ambulance just in case.
The police came too and checked my aunt out for insurane MOT etc.
There was a small negligible dent on her car from the other car door.
Anyway, the police told the mother that she should use child lock.
Aunt visited their home the next day to check he was ok and he was (just in case as she had a feeling they were crooks).
Lo and behold! what drops on my aunt's door mat is a personal injury claim alleging that they (stupid, !!!!less mother and child) were crossing the road as pedestrians and my aunt was speeding and hit them.
I don't think the mother is claiming for her injury, just the child's fake ones.
No further details on the injuries.
I've posted before on what I think about ppl with fake/exaggerated claims.
Can anyone offer any tips?

If the police were called and attended and told the mother to use child locks in future, won't there be some sort of record of that?0

There are always two sides to a story.
The "silly cow" could post saying your aunt recklessly ploughed into her child.
Somewhere between the two stories is the truth.
Just pass all correspondence to your aunt's insurers and let them sort it out.0 -
If the police came there will be a record of it, and they will have written down what happened and what they said (your Aunt should have been given a copy of this).
Similar thing (apart from the bogus claim!) happened to my wife not too long ago. She was driving down the road when a teenager ran across the road in front of her and she was clipped by the car. No injuries thank god, but the guy in the car behind called the police (which was a god send, looking back).
The police spoke to the girl & the girls friend, and she said she'd been running to get the bus on the other side of the road and hadn't even looked for oncoming traffic when she ran across the road.
The police noted all this down and gave my wife all the details. The girls mum came to pick her up and that was it done & dusted.Check out www.fancyanargument.com :T0 -
Agree with Quentin, she shouldn't reply (in case she accidentally says something a lawyer could jump on as admission of liability), just pass any letters received on to her insurers.0
