But only if the bookie was paying 1/4 odds - I thought most were only paying 1/5th odds for the place, thus probably only £18.00 place and £13.00 profit.

OK, I forgot to deduct the £5 win bet and your right £17.50 is his net profit.

As far as Bookies paying 1/4 odds ALL pay 1/4 odds for the Grand National. NONE pay 1/5th Odds. If you can think of one post it.

Everytime I put the radio on or watched the TV Saturday, yet another person gave a tip. Each one being different.
So this year ...in order to avoid the dissappointment of never having a wiinner ...ever in the last 10 years of the national ...I bet on 8 different horses each way.
Anyway I got the winner and a place. Stan James let you get 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th Each Way and paid 1/4 the odds.
So even an idiot like me ended up £5 up on the day.

Thats its ....I have closed my Stan James account and I will now retire on my winnings.

Got second place which was 20/1 but each way covered my other bets on the nose that didnt come in.
