Credit Scoring

in Credit cards
I've been in a long battle with Experian trying to correct data and have data removed. My credit score is still only showing as FAIR. There are some late payment markers relating to an old and satisfied mortgage account but that is all. The problem is that I want to apply for a new credit card but am worried about being turned down and hence having too many searches on my file. Any thoughts as to who would accept score of around 808/1000?

Just about everyone, your score is okay.
Other factors such as employment, salary, ability to repay the debt are factors that are more important with the credit crunch upon us.
apply for a main stream card such as A&L, Virgin rather than say Barclaycard who tend to be more critical .
Alternatively apply to your bank as they know you best.
Just make sure you don't miss any payments and you should see an improvement in your score.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -
I have the same sort of problem and have a old satisfied account, i also have a score of 806
but this week applied for a CC with my own bank and was accepted but score has now dropped to 745. I estimate my score will be back in the 800s next month when all other accounts report my on time payment
So if u feel u not be accepted do as Bokkens says and apply for a CC with yr own bank and u'll be okay, just checkout what cards are 4 u on the website:hello:0 -

Individual lenders don't tell you how they've assesed any score. Experian and other credit agencies will provide you with a 'credit score' for a fee but this is an indication only.
Lenders can take other factors into account when making a decision, so do not rely on any score to be indicative of whether you will get specific credit.0 -

I paid £2 for my credit report from Experian. I have scoured this report many times over trying to find the score. At the risk of sounding incredibly thick - where is the score written? I expected to see a line that says 'Credit Score:...'

You have a credit report. You get the score seperately. I use Experian credit expert and you can apply for a score there. I have never done so myself though.
