Can anyone advise please...

My Father has been suffering with osteo arthritis in his knees since june last year. Gradually it has become worse and he has been unable to work for the last 8 weeks.Due to previous time off sick with the same illness his sick pay is about to run out.He will now recieve statutory sick pay which will work out around £290 every 4 weeks!
He is temporally living with a friend as he has split with my mother, he pays £200 a month. he also has a loan £180 a month and pays my mother £120 matinence for my 15 year old brother.
He does not know how is is going to manage after this next month. he only has around £300 savings- which he will need to use to survive this month.
With no permanent fixed address , no money and his illness getting worse he just does not know what help there is for him.if any?
In the last 6/7 months he has gone from being a fit and healthy man. ( a proud man , who has worked hard all his life.) to a man who needs help to get his shoes on and off and needs a stick to help him walk!
He is only 54 and is being treated well by his consultant as the hospital.
He just needs some help with his personal and financial life until he is able to work again.
sorry its a long post but,
If anyone knows of any thing that may be able to help i would be most gratefull.
thankyou.

If he is only in receipt of SSP, and if he has a formal rental agreement, he will be entitled to some Local Housing Allowance. There will be a calculator, and more details of the level of entitlement, on your local council's website.

With regard to the maintenance, you would be best advised to ask on the Child Support board, to see if it is possible to vary this arrangement.

Due to the long term nature of his condition, it may be possible to claim Disability Living Allowance.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Thank you.
He does not have a formal rental agreement. He was only supposed to be staying whilst he got himself sorted after the marriage break up. Also he does not pay matinence through csa. Maybe he will be able to arrange something with my mother tho .Will look into the disability living allowance tho, thanks.x
