getting rid of yahoo search box

How do I get rid of this? In fact, how did I catch it in the first place? Over the past couple of days I've been finding words that are underlined on websites and when I hover over them I get a hot search powered by yahoo box up which gives me lists of commercial sites vaguely related to the underlined word.

How do I stop this from happening and how do I ensure I don't catch it in future again? I use FireFox as a browser and avg and adaware , though since I've started using FireFox I never catch anything when I run adaware which is why I'm surprised I've got this intensively irritating yahoo box.

Thanks very much

Liz
