BT bill problem

We are with BT for our calls and line rental, recently we switched to option 2 to get hte free calls etc (please dont give opinions on this choice -its the best for us)
We are signed up to paperfree billing
Though last month we received a paper bill (? huh) as well as an online one
Our online account says paperfree but nowhere on line can I actually see the bill, all I can see is a summary of charges, I havent actually been able to see our bill online for about 3 months and everytime I phone up (and spend ages on hold) I get assured its paper free and a problem with their computer....
Anyone got any advice? and no we cant change from BT as we are tied into a contract
Also we keep getting charged (mostly £1 a month) for low call use for 1571 - we are using the phone but I cant see anything about this charge on their website - how do I go about getting rid of this charge and whats it for?
Thanks

BT charges £3/quarter if you don't make at least 6 calls per quarter via them. As all your calls are with them, I don't understand how you can have been charged.clairet707 wrote: »Also we keep getting charged (mostly £1 a month) for low call use for 1571 - we are using the phone but I cant see anything about this charge on their website - how do I go about getting rid of this charge and whats it for?
Anyway, inclusive calls now count so, as you're now on the Unlimited Eveneing & Weekend Plan, any evening or weekend UK 01 (except 01481 & 01534), 02 or 03 calls you make will count towards free 1571 and Caller Display.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks for that, we use it at least once a week if not more - so another thing to add to the complaining phone call then
Thanks0 -
Have just found out why BT keep charging us for the low call 1571 thing
Apparently they didnt take our calls off Tiscali, who have been charging us for our calls since beginning of February!!!!!
:mad::mad::mad: doesnt come close
Tiscali cant give us a balance as we are in credit and we therefore havent been getting our free evening and weekend calls so hate to think how much we have been charged.
What do I do??0 -
I'd 'go back to BT' and sign up for their newly-named 'Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan' (formerly BT Together Option 2), agree to a 12 month contract and get inclusive evening and weekend UK 01/02/03 calls of up to 60 minutes each for no monthly fee.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. we tried that on the 6th Feb!!
it didn't work, BT haven't processed it properly, both BT and Tiscali seem to think we are getting calls through them
Tiscali cant do us a bill as we are in credit
BT cant show us any calls we have made as they are going through tiscali
I'm going round in circles with a guy in India from BT0 -
We only use BT for line rental and have just received our first paperless bill. Noticed a 'one-off' charge for 1571 and Caller Display of £7.01. Rang BT and it was because we use another provider for our calls and unless we make 2 chargeable calls every month we will pay for 1571 and caller display every month - not what I would call a 'one off charge'! To make the chargeable call you have to prefix the telephone number with 1280. I really cannot remember receiving notification of this change in the terms and conditions so the (very polite) call centre operator said he would withdraw the £7.01 this time - now all I have to do is remember to make 2 (cheap!) chargeable calls a month. Cannot swap back to BT as we are in a contract with Orange for another 12 months.
Obviously lots of people have left BT for other providers so they are frantically trying to get more and more revenue from those of us who only have line rental. What will it be next??0 -
Welcome to the MSE forums headgardener.
You must be on BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan (formerly BT Together Option 1) and use Orange as your CPS (Carrier Preselect) calls provider.
As such, all you have to do is make 2 free weekend UK 01, 02 or 03 calls via BT each month to qualify for free Caller Display and 1571. As you say, just prefix those couple of calls with 1280 to hop back onto BT.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
