Check your Virgin Media Direct Debits!!

Hi All,

Sorry it's long - Virgin Media warning imminent!! :rotfl:

My bank statement came this morning, everything looked normal but upon closer inspection, Virgin had taken £25 instead of the normal £18 for broadband. I had a look at last months statement, and sure enough, £25.45 instead of £18.

Luckily it was only the past two payments, but I still called up to ask what the price increase was. Turns out, 'Urr, someone had upgraded your broadband but didn't upgrade the price. We looked into it, and put the price up to match what you were getting'. Now I'm not saying this isn't true, but I'm on here every day and really haven't noticed a difference. I asked for the difference refunded as it was for a service I hadn't asked for, he basically said no. After reminding him my contract was up next month and I'd be shopping around, he called me back and offered me the refund.

I text my mum to get her to check hers, and she too has been upgraded to the 'large broadband' without asking for it, and they've been debiting her account accordingly. Check your statements, guys.

Virgin Media are known for doing this to many people.I went for the 3 for £30 package which is bb,home phone and tv.None of my discounts wa on my bills and have been billed wrong so many times. They dont refund you the money back, they credit your account. In the end I had enough of the lies they kept telling me, even the manager at the cief executive office was stunned when she offered to credit my account and again I had money taken from my account.SO I have cancelled my contract with them.Ive only been with them since december but due to all the probelms I had they allowed me to leave the contract without paying the penalty charge or whatever they call it.I would of had to pay over £200 to leave.I cancelled my direct debits just to be on the safe side. And they are coming to collect the equitment on the 17th.
My advise to you is check your bills next month and there after to make sure you are not billed wrong again. If it continues put in a complaint in writing although cthey are not bothered ith complaints. On facebook they have a group with over 400 unhappy customers who have had so many problems and most have complained to watchdog so dont be suprised if they appear on watchdog soon.
Goodluck and hope it all gets sorted.
  • Thanks, Diamond - I had a call back offering me the refund :)

Thats ok hun. Just make sure you check though as they offered me a refund too on more than 2 occassions and I never got the refund. They told me and many other people the same only to have it credited back on the account but even that didnt happen coz they forgot!!
If they say they will refund it to your account then make sure you check your bank, if its credited to your virgin account then check you bill and always remember to take the name of the person you spoke to.

I'm surprised to hear this as I've never had a problem with Virgin Media. Just to be on the safe side I went online and checked all my previous bills to make sure they were ok and everything seemed to be in order!

Suppose 400 people on facebook can't be wrong though!
    £12,550 by September 2011? £12,550 to go :p
