Credit Card Mugging in Service Stations

in Credit cards
My Wife, with two small children in tow, in the middle of a 200 mile road trip, was mugged by a Credit Card salesperson. She was told that she was going to be sent information about the National Trust and the MBNA credit card that supports it - No strings. :j
The salesperson would not let her go until she had given her address and signed to say "that it was OK to send the information" - she thought. :rotfl:
We are now the proud owners of a credit card with a £7000 limit (better than I've ever done - even though I earn more) and a 15% interest rate!
We rang MBNA, but couldn't even get through security because they had a Mothers Maiden Name that was not correct - not surprising really, because my wife did not give it to them in the first place!!!
Is what has happened a case of mis-selling? Is it also not ethical giving potentially vunerable people (not counting my wife) a credit card with a ridiculous limit??
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I think Mugging is a strong term to use as when I clicked on this thread I literally thought it was about a proper mugging. Anyway, I do think you have cause for complaint as you were sent a credit card that you were not aware that you signed up for. It sounds like when we had a call at our front door recently from a gas supplier who asked us if we wanted to change suppliers. We said no and the salesperson signed a form and got us changed over anyway. We logged a massive complaint with the company concerned. I would call MBNA and tell them what happened. If you truly do not want the card then ask them to close it. Are you sure that the rate to start with is 15%? Most MBNA cards have a rate on balance transfers for 9 months from opening of either 0% or 1.9%.0
