I get the impression they only last 1-2 years, if that. The speed is important too.
I'm interested in 1-4Gb.

Hi prost
I bought one of these 4GB Sandisk USB memory stick last year from play.com (it was £17.99 at the time) works fine even with my Xbox 360 and Divx player and never had any problems, now it only £13.99

It is all to do with the number of I/O ( Input / Outputs ) that the unit does rather than in time. So if you use it alot then it will not last as long as some one who uses it less. All Saves, Copies and Reads count. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

You should also consider a Pen Drive that has some sort of encryption built in.
Have a look in PCworld. They have an upto Half Price sale at the moment :beer:0 -
I use Samsung ( amongst others ) very fast, very solid build.;)0

Agree with Corsair suggestion (very good flash drives). Also agree with the cheap drives comment from personal experience."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Corsair here also: rugged, fast, reliable: not the cheapest, nor the smallest

I usually use Kingstons as they get good reviews and have a long warranty. There are some Kingstons with Data Traveller security already on them, or you can download and use TrueCrypt on almost any USB flash drive ( and on your PC, of course!) which is one of the best encryption programs around. And it's free
