Direct line insurance/Homeresponse 24-

my friend has buildings and contents insurance with direct line. her buildings and contents has only just been renewed & so has another year to run. she also pays about £18 per month for british gas homecare. homecare covers annual servicing of boiler and repairs to boiler and problems with wiring of house. it does not include electrical appliances (tv, fridge etc).
she saw an advert for homeresponse 24 for direct line- - she called for qoute. it seems if she pays about 17 a month she receives cover for electrics, plumbing drainage, heating and security.
1. she wants to know should she cancel british gas cover and take on homeresponse. british gas provide annual service, whereas homeresponse doesn't. on the plus side homeresponse covers alot more and is £1 cheaper. does it matter if boiler isn't serviced annually (not sure how old boiler is).
2. does she really need all the homeresponse- would most of it be covered under buildings and contents insurance.
3. can she get a discount on homeresponse. if so how much.
4. if she cancelled buildings and contents insurance and applied on line can she get any further discounts- if so how much?
thanks
