M-PEG 2 Decoder on a Vista Laptop

Hope someone can help with this one.

I have just bought my daughter a laptop with Vista Basic on it.

She wants to play DVD's on it. However, when I put a disc in it says it needs a MPEG2 decoder?

Do I download one of these from t'internet. Can anyone recomend one?

And more to the point why doesn't vista come with this alreadt installed? grumble grumble...................

That's not a MPEG2 decoder. What are you thinking?

You can try the ffdshow filter.

If that fails, you can use VideoLAN player until someone comes up with their usual solution.
