I also saved that way today, buying my D-Link ADSL wireless Router with USB Dongle. Instore price was originally £99.99 then reduced to £79.99 but online price was £58.90 so I reserved it online printed off the details and went down and picked it up. Must admit it was also surprisingly easy to set up considering I'm crap with technology and also have the added disadvantage of AOL !!0

PC World has been offering these levels of savings for months online - what I can't understand is why anyone shops instore without checking online and reserving first! You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
-
I guess the people who are missing out are the ones without internet access - although you'd have thought most PC World customers would have the internet wouldn't they???0

At least once they buy their PC from PC World they'll be able to see how much they have been overcharged!!!You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

If you buy anything quite valuable from any of the Dixons shop then ask what sort of discount you'll get if you take the extended warranty. Get the discount (i got £100 off my ibook) and phone up the next day and cancel the extended warranty. There is a deposit of £10 you lose but thats still £90 cheaper. You wont lose the rest of the discount as when doing it over the phone they are not aware you got money off (MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CANCEL INSTORE - i made up an excuse that i was going on holiday and couldn't get there)
You also get a big book of vouchers with the warrenty which you don't have to give back0 -
I normally avoid PC World, but I was after a specific printer. The cheapest price I saw was on the PC World website. Found out that they will pricematch on web based price instore if you bring in a printout with the reserve code. The upshot is, i reserved it online and paid the web price for it when I went to collect it. This was about 4 months ago though, I suppose the rules could have changed since then.
But yes, if you're after PC components, ebuyer, scan and microdirect are good for prices.

I've used the pick-up option a few times. It's the only time I ever go into PC World, and it's sheer comedy every time.
I needed a printer for a friend last week, PC World were basically doing a pick-up price for less that any of my usual online sites (once P&P got taken into consideration).
I walked through the door, waited the requisite 30 minutes for someone to appear while listening to the guy in front explain how desperate it was he had his PC back that day only to be told it would be three weeks (minimum).
I finally got served, handed over the print-out confimation, and off he scurried to the printer aisles to find the large bright green box that I was after.
I could see them, on a pallet, bang in the middle of the store.
Fifteen minutes later, after asking a colleague who was stood right next to the things where they were, he came back apologising profusely but despite the computer saying they had 13 in stock, he could not find them.
"That green pile over there" I pointed out. Sheepish was the only word that described the look on his face as he came back with printer in hand.
I love PC World, for all the wrong reasons.0 -
