Hi,
This might seem blindingly obvious to some, but I'm really struggling. I've had a digital aerial fitted today, and the guy set up the freeview box no problem.
I can't work out how to now attach my dvd recorder, as when I try, the box seems to interfere with it.
Please can some nice person tell me which leads are meant to go where!
The set top box has one scart socket. The DVR has scart sockets for AV1 and AV2, and the tv only has one scart socket. I have one of those scart socket doubler things - might that be why I can't get a decent picture through the DVR?
(Words of one syllable or less would be appreciated.:o )

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Plug Freeview scart to DVR AV2 scart
Plug DVR scart 1 to TV
To watch freeview with DVR off (should pass through the signal) switch to AV channel on tv.
To watch output of Freeview with DVR switched on set DVR channel to AV2/L2, tv to Av channel.
You shouldn't really need the scart doubler."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -

Hi,

As an aside I hope the fitter didn't sell/call the aerial a "digital aerial". Can't stand that misselling. No such thing as a digital aerial. There's just TV aerials, and some are better (higher gain) than others. Our 30 year old aerial used for analogue TV now serves 2 digital TVs perfectly well."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ok, I've had a play.
OK Sauce, tried that, but I couln't get any picture with the dvr off, and an almost unwatchable one with it on.
frugalmacdougal - their suggestions assumed 2 scarts to the settop box, so I used the doubler, but again nothing through the dvd.
jje - thanks, I've posted on the link you gave.
(superscaper - the nice aerial man was very careful to tell me it wasn't a digital aerial, and to explain about higain etc. I'm just in a really bad analogue reception area.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

A rare breed then. Sounds like he actually knew what he was talking about.

I wonder if your dvd recorder is set to svideo out and you tv is expecting composite in. Check to see if the video output type is different to the tv input type."...IT'S FRUITY!"0
