From where should I buy my AV software.

My Norton AV expires this month, and Ive decided to change to Kaspersky. I started looking at the Kaspersky site, and then looked for it from other sources.
Sites such as software.co.uk and Aria appear to be selling the same product at greatly reduced prices. Am I missing something?
Will I be buying the same product from these sites? If so, why the difference in price? Does it matter that if it's OEM? Will I be able to get updates online?
Sorry for ramblings.

At the moment Arias offer is the best .
Oem you will get your update . OEM is supposed to be sold with a new machine is all a heap of software is sold as OEM generally no difference except no retail box just a disc .Sometimes you are just
Kaspersky 8 when released should accept your serial for 7 until the 12 months from start are up .

I used to use Kaspersky, but switched to Avira Antivir.
It's got reasonably good ratings, and it is FREE. Worth a try.0 -
Kaspersky have just passed this months Virus Bulletin VB100 tests, where 17 out of 37 entrants failed. AVG also passed and this is free.0

use scan.co.uk to order, i got the 3 user licence ( OEM ) for around £17.0

Best bet from experience is;
AVG for antivirus. it's FREE and worked fine on vista X86 and X64 versions.
Comodo for firewall. It's also FREE and is tipped to be one of the best available.
I've used AVG for years and have never (touch wood) had a virus yet.
Comodo passes all grc.com's port scans and also includes a spyware scanner, dead easy to set up too0 -
I would say AVG been using it for years..and it's free.Comps 2008Cleaning set £30 - BuzZ Game on PS2 £25 - Nivea Mens Set £25 -0

I can confirm that a licence for Kaspersky 7 is valid for twelve months and transferable to Kaspersky 8 when released for the remainder of that twelve months .
I would not want to push any one in the Kaspersky direction all i will say is that in the few days i have been on the tech forum AVG sems to be highly recommended as its free . But its very noticable that a lot of the virus/trojan help post say i have got AVG installed help me get rid of this trojan/virus that has got itself installed on my computer .
I am all for free programs but as security is a critical aspect its the only software i actually pay for .

I agree with you, jje,
I know members are offering opinions on AVs, but I'd already decided before posting that I'm buying kaspersky - I'm satisfied that it's what I want. My concerns were about buying it from sources other than Kaspersky's own. terryharman got an even better deal, which I will now buy.:jI gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!0 -

Thats probably it though, AVG has highlighted the virus/trojan. If you used something else, would it detect it and let you know???
Like I say, I've used AVG for years, and I've never had an infestation. Yes, I've downloaded virii by accident whilst downloading stuff, but AVG has always highlighted it. It gets updated more frequently than others I've tried too such as Avast and Avira. The only criticism I could give is that it can be a tad slow scanning emails, but then at least I know it's being thoughrough.
I did try one recently (can't remember what it was), some download and try me type thing, and it picked up loads of stuff that AVG didn't, but when I looked closer, it had picked up DNet which is a distributed Computing client and definately not a virus, but more worryingly, it picked up the source of several programs I had written. If I had let it do it's thing, it would have deleted weeks of work along with a completely harmless DC program.
It's good to be paranoid, but you have to draw the line somewhere0
