What do you do when the plasterer goes?

Personally speaking, I would yell "hallez-blinkin-luyah" at the top of my voice!! Several times.

Mine left such a mess you just would not believe!.
  • Right so i've got it down to either diluted paint (4 parts paint, 1 water) or PVA diluted? What ration for the pva guys (and gals?)
    cheers again everyone
will be starting it tuesday hopefully so ill let you know how i get on

  • The only thing with using PVA on the newly plastered walls is that is leaves a skin on the wall.
This is more apparent if you were to wallpaper afterwards. Eventually when the wallpaper is stripped off the wall some of the PVA skin is left & some comes off with the paper. This doesn’t matter if you are papering the walls again but if you want to use emulsion it’s a nightmare!

Personally on newly plastered walls I would “size” them using diluted wallpaper paste as already recommended. The mixing ratio for this will be on the back of the paste packet. Give the walls a couple of coats of this with drying time in-between then pain as normal with your emulsion.
