Buying abroad...UK Credit Check?

Dear All. Apologies if this has been covered before - I have searched with no luck but may have missed something.
I have just moved from the UK to the US and am waiting for my visa to clear. I am able to begin the process of making an offer on property but need a credit report. As all my credit history is based in the UK what is the best reliable and 'proveable' source of a credit check online?
Will applying for this check damage my credit report?
And finally, will the received emailed report be acceptable as proof of credit?
I look forward to hearing from those of you wiser than I.
Thanks and regards.
Braddan.

Not sure how you can do this as the US base their credit scores on a system known as FICO which takes their (US type credit factors) into account. Presumably you are applying for a US $ mortgage so they will credit check you there. I don't see what use a UK credit score would be as, I suspect, the US wouldn't know what to do with it. You tend to have to "build up" your credit score IIRC. What visa have you got, and can not the agent/lawyer/whoever who organised it not advise you on credit scoring?A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
