good response.....hope it works for him !!

deletion of that file cannot have caused this on it's own, it's either a new virus or a particlarly nasty bit of spyware that is attempting to re-install itself on boot up i suspect (and failing)

  • From what I've seen its likely to be a corrupt hard drive. If it was a virus deleting that file meant deleting part of the boot process as well. I wouldn't say spyware, but either a virus or a corrupt hard drive.

Anyway, these things happen. Computers are anything but invincible.

my record stands at 6 hours uninstalling and deleting stuff to get a pc to boot up , was a corrupt adsl modem driver in the end...

  • Drivers usually cause all the booting problems due to conflicts and corruptions. I have an unsolved conflict due to 2 sound cards. One intergrated in motherword, and one pci. Disabled the motherborad one in bios but it still conflicts once every now and then and causes a restart Lol.

Anyway Flyer, tell us if you get it fixed!

Hmmm, it is not a recognised exe file. If you have a virus checker, run a scan on it. If ok, try double clickingand see what happens... Keep us posted.

i would never advise this action (the double click), im sure some trojans/viruses can potentially get through virus checkers, especially new ones. never run a file you dont know.
  • Think you're too late Nelly. His pc has broke now... But he posts soon he's fixed it :) hehe

aye...i know that...i like to make sure that if someone else comes across this thread in the future they dont follow the advice...it is possible that someone could end up here one day with the same file...
  • No chance. I've seen viruses like this. It picks a random 6 to 8 combination of letters before the .exe... and there are many viruses alike.. so no-one will be searching for the .exe file for a while hahaha

But i see where you're coming from :) lol.
