I like it better than this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5348640/Trail/searchtext>IPOD.htmbecause the speakers look better

It should be compatible, it has a 3.5mm jack socket on the shuffle and thats what it says about the top set of speakers you've been looking at

Maybe another really stupid question but what do I need to get to connect the two together?

I've bought them both and wam putting music on for her now so would like to be able to show her how to use it all
