Old play worn match box cars - Worth selling?

Hi everyone

Does anyone have an opinion on this........my partner has a boxfull of old 60's 70's matchbox and dinky toys. Sadly these are not the great examples you usually see on TV going for loads of money. They are all heavily playworn with lots of rubbing/chipping to paint some with minor damage. He needs the money and we need the space. Is it worth listing them on Ebay? I would have to photograph every item, probably start at 99p and then package these awkward bundles. If most of them end up going for 99p I was wondering if they might be better car boot fair. I would imagine but don't know these collectors would like the best possible examples. Thanks in advance:D

I know some of the older matchbox vehicles go for silly money on ebay, I listed a handful a while ago. I would say worth listing but be honest in the listing and state that they are not in brand new condition as you would expect for their age/play.

Got to be worth a try surely?

List a load of similar ones together e.g. all Dinky, all Corgi, and maybe all Diky small cars, ,lorries etc., It does not always matter if they are playworn, as if they are rare, collectors will just want one. Also if they have the orginal rubber tyres, some dealers buy them to cannibailise them for better condition cars.
Get some shoe boxes from stores, or charity shops, put them in and check postage price before selling. It is an easy and safe way to send them. Wrap them individually so they don't bash about.

I would not list them seperately as it costs more in time and listing fees.

    Good luck.:j

    I love your optimism :p

Thanks seashore I like the idea of grouping too, bizarrely I hadn't thought of that:T

Thanks redballoon & RustyFlange you have all encouraged me - I'm just not as ebay motivated as I once was which is daft because it is a money saving op.

Is it worth washing them? Or could that risk damage

Noooooooooo! DO not wash they will rust where paint is chipped. Wipe with a damp cloth if necessary, but leave as is. You will never get the water out of the windows etc and your shoebox will go all soggy. AAH!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Okay Seashore I hear you, from the next room actually - you can tell I'm a plum concerning these matters. I will leave as is and just be explicit about the fact they are mucky.
