Can I claim bank charges from 1998?

Hello,

Please can someone let me know if I can claim back charges from 1998? I have statements showing approx £100 worth of unauthorised overdraft charges from 1998 with Lloyds TSB.

I heard there was a 6 year limit but is this just because you can only request 6 years worth of info under the data protection act?

Is it worth me trying to claim?

No - the 6 years is nothing to do with the data protection act but to do with the time limit within which debts can be enforced through the courts.

You CAN claim but I doubt if they will pay.

Okay if I do claim how do I work out the interest as the interest calculator only goes back to 1999.

U can use the calculator back to 1999 then just times your debt by 8% and add that to the calculator amount and that will give you the extra year.
