Getting a cat out of a locked garage

I need some advice here...
My daft cat has got himself locked in a neighbour's garage (he's been missing since yesterday lunch time), and the've gone away for the weekend.....
How do I stand about getting him out?? Obviously if I leave him there till after the weekend it'll not be worth bringing him home (if you see what I mean)....

Any advice??

It's not a means to getting him out but is there a way you can slide food to him under their garage door, be it wet food on a piece of paper or throwing dry food for him?

Hope he's no worse for his escapade when you get him out :)
  • Phone the RSPCA they will have him out in no time!:D

Do you have a mobile number for the neighbours? If not do you know anyone else who might? They might have left some keys with another neighbour.

Calling the RSPCA is an excellent idea, otherwise the local police might be able to offer advice.

If it was my cat I'd probably do my best to break into the garage to get moggy out :o, make the garage as secure as possible aferwards, then when the neighbours have calmed down I'd pay for the damage I'd caused.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

If you have to break in, I'd get a locksmith to do it for you, though whether you can find one willing with no proof of address I don't know. They could lock it up again afterwards though, so it shouldn't upset your neighbours.

If it is any consolation my cat did the same thing when I was a kid, only it was in a house that was up for sale. We didn't find her for days, and she was fine, (although hungry and a bit disgruntled). So if you can get some water to him (just pour it on the floor so it seeps under if you have to), and some food if you can. He should cope. I wouldn't want to leave him there if he was mine though :-(

Contacting RSPCA is a good idea, maybe they would be able to authorise a locksmith to open it for you?
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
  • The cat will probably be fine - although not best pleased! They can go for a fair while without food, especially if you can get them some water.

But it must be horrible for you knowing that your poor cat is stuck. I think the police would refer you to the RSPCA, so I guess try them first.

Hope you get it sorted out.
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

glad it turned out ok.. we had a cat that got locked in a nieghbours shed - when i was a kid - they went away and we didnt know he was there.. luckily it was a wet week and the shead had a leaky roof and a huge mouse problem so the cats basic needs were met!!

Our lovely ginger cat went missing for 48 hours once. We made some posters, with photo, asking people to look in their garages/sheds etc., and put them up locally.

A couple of hours later he turned up and you'll never guess where he was. Next door also had a ginger cat and took ours in thinking it was theirs! They'd obviously seen the poster then decided to take a closer look at the cat and realised it wasn't theirs! Got me wondering where theirs had gone though!
