    Crikey ! Looks like I'm overpaying !

My gardener is £15 per hour (but he's excellent) and the cleaner id £10 per hour. Might need to reassess the cleaners' rates soon, methinks

    Yes, you're overpaying.

    Bit like houses, methinks.

Clearly some people are happy overpaying for things, and some aren't.

Is that all the bulls on here are? Spendthrifts? I just wonder what they're doing on a site called MoneySavingExpert.com.

Surely there must be a MoreMoneyThanSense site out there somewhere?

London rates.... a complete rip off. ;)

You can get a good quality book keeper around here for £8 per hour.

yes - but a book keeper won't be able to do my washing and ironing!!

You could do it yourself, you know, and if you stopped posting abusive posts on here, you'd probably find you had time to take in washing and ironing for others, too.

    New sideline, chucky?

i'm good for that Carol, thank you. i'd rather pay for the cleaning and ironing to be done, i can come home and everything is done for me.

a good article - i'm pretty sure that we could get the cleaning done ourselves but if we did do it we would have to sacrifice other things that we like doing and obviously enjoy more. it may be a bit conceited or spoilt but it's about enjoying life for us and not worrying about the chores and stuff that isn't much fun...

Exactly that's the whole point. It's about whether you think it's value for money to pay around £25-£40 a week to free yourself of those tasks. I personally think it's one of the best things that I buy each week. Especially when I was working, it's not rocket science, if you hire a cleaner for far less than your own hourly rate then it must be good value.

I still think its worth it now even though I am virtually retired. Theres always something better to do with your 'free time' in my case that means playing chess, bowls or tennis, jogging, cycling, volunteer work for dog rescue centres or taking my dog for a walk or swim.
