Yep, Stazi and glossgal get my vote.
The info should be helpful to jackieb as well.
First thing Monday - a teamleader, a manager, your MP, uncle tom cobbley and all if possible. Something to give them a kick up the backside. Problem is you only ever get through to the telephony section these days so you must ask for a call back from someone in charge. The policy is that they ring back within 3 hours. Don't take no for an answer.
Young people between 16 and 20 (and some under 25 if training etc) who are incapable of work IB(Y) is paid after they've been incapable of work for more than 196 days (28 weeks). They don't need National Insurance contributions.
He'd get Income Support before then but if I were you I'd ask the GP to give him a sick note backdated for a year if possible but at least 28 weeks so it's paid straight away. As Stazi says he should also claim IS but if the initial claim was done over the phone to the Jobcentre call centre then they should have taken it as a claim for both anyway. Mention it to the team leader when you speak to them as they should be able to tell you what's actually been claimed.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -
Thank you all very much.Son has calmed down a bit now thankfully and I managed to get someone on the phone yesterday who suggested a letter fromm him so that they can have a mandate set up allowing them to speak to me about his claim as he gets so upset over it,that should make things easier on him.
We have a;ready put in backdated med certs right back till the start of sept 07 so now I hope it is just a case of this additional form and it will all get sorted.
Theres also a local agency I heard about,The Advocacy Project, who deal with things like the benefits agency etc for people.I think they usually work with pensioners and disabled clients.I will get in touch with them too so we have someone to help us who knows about benefits already.
Thanks again everyone.
The EU thing?I think the woman at the benefits agency said something about the forms we have to fill out being as a result of some sort of EU directive for working with young people?,so basically they forgot about this form and it has held up his claim.Oh well,we will get there eventually."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
