Sell a crashed car to a Man
Options
My daugher had a crash a while ago and the car was towed to our driveway. A man came to the house to buy an item I was selling through the local paper and whilst he was here he looked at the car. We've not had it checked but people have said its a right off. It's all smashed up at the front and lots of other things. Anyway he said he wants to buy it for £100, he said he wants to rebuild it for his wife. The local scrap man offered her £75 but he would prob be using it for scrap. Is it ok to sell to this guy who came to the house? and is there anything she needs to know about paperwork etc because I don't want her ending up having any responsibility for it once its been sold to him
Thanx

Hi Lady,
As long as you state clearly 'Bought as seen' or sold as spares only, you will be covered. Give him a receipt stating that and get him to sign to say that he accepts that.
be sure to fill out all of the log book details even though you are selling a write-off and ensure that it is yours to sell and not the insurance company's.
If they have paid out on the writing off of the car then they need to release it to you for re-sale.
You might like to mention (on here) what the car is and how old, Etc to be sure that you are not being 'Done'
Make sure everything is dated on the day of the sale and that you have his address and PROOF of his address or you may find that he parks it on the road, doesn't register it and your daughter will be liable for parking fines Etc."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
