Would it be possible to make the full £200 straight up for Amex Plat CB card?

Hi,

I have wondered whether this would be possible. If you had the 5% Amex Plat card that pays 5% oup to £4,000 for first 3 months. If over the space of 3 months £4,000 was deposited to a casino site and then withdrawn. And the card paid off, would this acrue the cashback, or rather would it work? Personally, I am not planning on doing it but it is something I htought about when reading the cashback article.

This has been mentioned before ,i can't recall why it isn't possible,something to do with not being able to pay by credit card?

Poker sites I use take credit cards, as do a couple of casinos that I have bagged bonus money from??

I suspect it won't work.

They don't pay cashback on "cash withdrawals" and these on line gambling sites tend to be treated as cash and not a purchase.
So as well as no cashback there would be interest charged on the cash advance.

I'm not 100% but I'm 95% sure.

OK, I suspected you were "purchasing" credit with them. However, I did perhaps think it would also be an advance, not to worry. As I said, I'm not planning on doing it personally just wondered if it was at all possible.

As lisyloo says its because it is treated as "cash" by the CC. Only one I know that doesn't is Barclaycard

I wonder if this also applies to paying extra on your mortgage? I have a mortgage that I can overpay and also take payment holidays. If this was possible it would be really good.

I don't think you can pay mortgages by credit card.
Unless of course you do a 0% balance transfer to a bank account i.e. stoozing.
However this is temporary so you'd all need a drawdown facility.

In general I don't think mortgage lenders accept payments by credit card, so you'd need another way of getting the money out e.g. balance transfer,

There have been reports on the stoozing site of providers allowing mortgage payments by Credit Card. Apparently they were reluctant at first but with a bit of persuasion it can be done.

American express is not accepted for any internet gambling related transactions, it is part of their merchant terms.
