if you see poppy doin her business on the lawn get the hose on quick or keep a bucket of water handy and it should help dilute it down and wont burn the lawn

My bil had a problem with patches caused by the dog until he started giving the dog Tomato juice mixed with his food... Voila !!! no patches... I guess the tomatoes neutralise the acid in the wee:rotfl: but it works....:T

    Hi All

Not at all greenfingered I'm afraid but the lovely weather yesterday encouraged OH and I into the garden to cut the grass, move the tramplone and cut back a few bushes.

However, where the tramplone was, and where DS has played football, we have several bald patches on the grass (can't call it a lawn it's too rough :rotfl: ) and I wondered what was the best / quickest growing grass seed to use to fill these in? Also is now ok to sow grass seed and any top tips for encouragin it please ?

    Thanks

main thing with seed is make sure you keep it watered! if it doesnt rain heavily, water it that day and keep off it untill its germinated and grew and had its first cut, some people on herehave said theyve mixed seed with topsoil, water it and sealed it to allow it to germinate then sticking it on the lawn but never tried this myself.

    basicly:

rake over area to clear all debris and loosen soil

mix grass seed with some topsoil/compost

spead over and cover with abit more topsoil to try and prevent birds

    and water it plenty!

you can get things like tuffgrass which is a more utility grade grass and canb cope with activity abit better than the finer grasses.

Well I did this yesterday on my lawn as one part doesn't get much light due to a bush. I dug out the patch a few cm. Applied some grass seed I got from Morrisons and then laid on some top soil mainly soil I got from composter that I put on some beds and watered lightly

I also water the lawn with some liquid lawn feed I got from Wilkos as my lawn this Winter had lost its colour and it seems to have perked it up

You could try getting some turf if you want a instant effect
