any builders that will take an ex council house in paer exchange

have just been to see the new redrow houses in my area as was hoping to do a part exchange but was told that redrow dont take ex council houses as part exchange nor will any other builder.
does anybody know any different to this??
i really dont want to sell my house myself and was prepared to loose money to do a part exchange as i dont want the hassle and stress of selling a house.

I really don't think any of them do take ex-council houses.

Have you had your house valued yet? If you are prepared to take a drop in price then you will find a quicker sale. Being in a chain isn't great but if you are planning on moving to a new build house then you might be able to keep the chain short.

You'll need a quick exchange with a developer so you'll be able to demand that from a potential buyer. If you do sell your own house, you'll be in a better position to knock the price of the new build down a good way.

Thanks for your reply i havent had my house valued yet but my next door neighbour put theres on the market yesturday and although mine has extra bits on it like new drive and conservatory i was going to put it on at the same price as thiers as i know i have got to compete with them now.
i realise now that this is the best way to go about it and im hoping ill be able to get a better deal on the new build by selling it myself.
so fingers crossed that my house does sell.

  • Hi

We have an ex council house and are looking to part exchange.

We have had Bellway out today and they knew before they came it was ex council and they turned up and seem to think they will have ours although they are not making an offer until tomorrow or Monday.

I think they would have said straight up though if they were not going to take it.

I think I have seem some houses on the Barratt Oakleaf site that look like ex council so may be worth checking Barratt too.
