No Claims Discount on Second Vehicle

My wife has a protected 5yr no-claims dicount with her current insurer. She purchased a 2nd car which is now insured with another provider.
We have just been advised that you cannot have a no-claims discount for 2 separate vehicles. I would have thought that such a thing would be driver-specific, and not car-specific.
One assumes the [second] provider knows what they are talking about, but can anyone confirm this is correct?

One person can own (say) two cars.
Each car needs to be insured.
Each insurance builds its own NCD.0 -
Quentin is 100% right.
Your wifes protected 5 years can't be used on 2 cars at once. The second car policy now starts building up its own NCD.
So in time your wife could end up with 2 lots of full NCD which she can protect.
Edit to add~ Even if you take out a multi vehicle policy (like we have with Admiral) each car still has its own policy so that NCD is accrued in the normal way.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks for the confirmation!!0

Sometimes the original policy supplier will take the NCD off both cars or give a discount rate.
Especially if she is the only named driver on the policy.
You cna only drive 1 car at once and if the other is garaged or on the driveway the risk is greatly reduced for the insurer.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
