Edge Card - Statement Dates

Hi folks. I got an Edge card (GE Money) account when I took finance to pay for a sofa last year.

My understanding is that the payment due date is 25 days after the statement date. At the moment this makes the due date before I get paid, so there's the possibility that I'll not have the funds to pay.

I wanted to change the date to the beginning of the month so that everything comes out my account at the same time, but I was told that I can't change the date.

Every other card account that I have allows this. Are they talking rubbish, or can I actually not change the statement date in order to change the due date?
