I started using Firefox a couple of months ago. Its ironic that the only website I have problems with is this one - MSE. It always hangs, locks up completely, when I've been reading a message and go back to the main board. I'm using win98 so that may be something to do with it. But strange this doesn't happen on any other website. I've cleared my cache. Any other ideas?

Not much help, but it works fine for me!0

ditto here, so I'm gonna suggest if its a problem on 98, and you;ve cleared the cache, then the problem is 980

Which version of Firefox are you using? (If it's a beta, Mozilla are dropping support for 98 for version 3 onwards). How clean is the computer? Does it need defragmenting etc?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Unlikely since you're running Win98 but I had a machine at work with a 'hyperthreading' pentium. Firefox would hang on some sites until I turned off the hyperthreading support in the BIOS. Didn't notice problems with any other software, just Firefox.0

Version 2.0.0.13. Very clean and recently defragged. I presume I will still be able to use version 2 when version 3 comes out? Just no support I suppose?

No I don't think I've got a 'hyperthreading' pentium0 -
MSE used to hang for me as well until i stopped using javascript for web browsing, apart from the sites that i need to have javascript enabled. Javascript can be easily controlled using the NoScript firefox extension.0

I would recommend Opera as a web browser. I used to use firefox a lot but then switched to Opera. Opera were the first guys to use tabbed browsing, and they have a Speed Dial, which is really useful, and a built in email client. And most importantly for you i guess, its a lot quicker and uses a lot less resources than firefox. Give it a try, you can always uninstall it if you don't like it
