  • mmm I love Camp Coffee! I have a bottle and every now and again if i need cheering up out it comes and I have a milky camp coffee... although the last one i had i still had 2 sugars in - I gave up sugar in my drinks for lent and haven't gone back but I wonder if Camp coffee would be nice without sugar in as it is more bitter.

When we cleaned out my grandmothers house we went through her kitchen and found a bottle about 40 years old! I dread to think what that would have been like if we had dared open the bottle!!:rotfl:

I love camp coffee - a throw back to early 80's saturday mornings on my friends dads allotment I think. They still sell it, and it's a really useful thing to have in the cupboard for comfort eating moments or making cake.

  • I love Camp coffee - it makes (IMHO) lovely milky coffee when mixed with three quarters milk and one quarter evap (heated together). It reminds me of my childhood. I use it in baking alot too.

    ...and I third this!!

I have just started 'Ration Shopping' (as in Thriftladys thread), and have only just discovered Camp coffee. It is lovely both as a hot drink and as iced coffee. As a confirmed tea drinker, that is praise indeed from me!!

As a child growing up in the 60's Camp coffee was all we ever had. I remember I used to like it. However, on tasting it again as a drink fairly recently I thought it was awful - but I think it's because I gave up sugar years ago, and it's very sweet. Used to keep a bottle for making coffee cakes or flavouring icing.
