Selling my computer...........

My dad bought me a computer for christmas cause my old one died. He also bought me Office programmes and Norton Anti virus. Anyway I've not got my old (better!) computer up and running again.

I loading both software CD's onto the new computer but I didn't register them on the internet like it kept asking me to.

Can I just delete them off the system on the new computer and then sell it on without? Can I then install them on another computer without any problems?

Many thanks

Yes you should be able to, as long as they are "retail" packages, and not OEM discs which came with the PC (which from your post I assume they are).

You might want to make sure you properly erase everything from your old PC before selling it on, several free software packages can do this, have a search.

    Hi
It's the new computer that you're selling isn't it, the one you got for Christmas?
If you didn't register those two software packages then you can just uninstall them and install them on another computer instead.

  • Yes it is the new computer I'm selling. To be honest I barely even used it so other than removing Office and the anti virus and a few personal pictures it doesn't need much!

Had a look on ebay and other slightly lower spec ones have gone for about £100 so I might get slightly more - fingers crossed. Just need to work out P&P which will be fun!
  • And they were retail packages from PC World and I didn't register them cause I never connected it to the net. Am thinking I might put any money I get towards a laptop. Tesco's seem to be doing some nice deals at the moment!

Then it's absolutely fine, and as you are selling the new PC, you won't have to worry about personal info either (as long as you didn't store anything personal on it!).
