I have norton's anti virus and when i connected up to blueyonder last week everything seemed to work ok.
However a week on and the internet wasn't working- after repeated goes to reinstall the blueyonder help disc, I finally got it to work if i disable my nortons antivirus.
Since then i have been swamped with adaware via 180search assistant.
My pc uses windows XP.
Anyone know a quick way of resolving my mess- id like to continue using norton's whilst on the net but at the moment i don't appear to have that option.
If it is a problem with norton's would i fare better with mcafee?

180 search assistant i think has to be removed from add remove programes and is adaware/spyware, i had it once and went through and uninstalled quite a few things that wasnt wanted then ran ad-aware and spybot just to make sure, then try nortons see if that solves the problem. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

180 is adware/spyware. Norton took out a law suit claiming that 180 search is adware/spyware and Norton won the law suit.
Therefore whatever you do do not use 180 search assistant0 -
Have a go with Symantec's removal tool & info, there is also more info on xona.com and computing.net .Torgwen..........

back to the original question.............
Is norton trying to run as a firewall as well? if so it could well be that blocking it so might be worth a check in the Norton config.0 -
Blueyonder broadband acts as a virtual network doesn't it? So you have an interneal Ip address which connects to the blueyonder modem. This connects to the internet.
Norton firewall blocks the network (tcp and udp ports) so you need to have the firewall disabled for the network to run.
In other words.. what scheming_gypsy said! hehe[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
