Don't think like that-there are always solutions.
What about going to the Department of Social Security and enquiring about some sort of crisis loan til your husband is back at work.
Have you opened your other account yet to transfer your wages into?
Could you do any work from home, eg registering to become a childminder etc. I know you have young children but you will still be able to care for other children.0 -
Hi
Do you have a Credit Union near you/ They might help with a small loan that covers most of the mortgage for a month? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
can you get work for the month in which you husband is off sick if he is fit enough to mind the kids? even if you just temp/work in a pub/corner shop etc? Can you get the parents to mind the little ones if hubbie is too ill?
I think what you need to do is
get salary paid into seperate account
prioritise what you need eg food/clothes/electric etc/mortgage and send £1 and a letter to all the other creditors and keep in contact with them.
Can you afford to pay for food/electric/council tax/mortgage normal payment etc? I make your monthly income £917 on a 4 week month.
Maybe see how far you can make the food in your cupboards stretch and see if you can put off shopping a bit. Maybe OldStyle can help here?
If you can I would try and make some payment towards the mortgage even if it is only half a monthly repayment to show you are doing what you can.
Wish there was more I could do to help. Big hugs and I hope your husband improves soon.Making my money go further with MSE :j

ive an abbey account ive had for years, which is ready to accept our wages. not sure how long companies need to change bank accounts just need to let them know anyway. dont know where to start with dd's either. ive not any i could cancel totally. ive thought about childminding, but only like take and pick up from school until parent collects. not sure how i go about this, and how you get noticed. ive thought about ironing, same thing not sure how to get noticed. and then if i got a second job thats going to be at basic rate tax. just doesnt seem to be any help for people with a mortgage, is there?? i today have had just enough, i would think about putting house up for sale and just up sticks. dont know where we would go. i feel a mortgage is nothing but a noose around your neck0 -

is there any early redemption penalty on your mortgage? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi,
Re tax credits: "not sure what this is going to be, when he can go back to work, or if he will get O/T this year, so more use than a chocolate teapot."
Unless I'm very much mistaken they're asking you to estimate your yearly income so they can base the award for this year on it. I'd have thought you'd be getting more if this year's income's going to be less"...if you turn out to be wrong they'll fix it later...
keep your chin upFor what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
i work sundays at the mo, have asked if i can do some extra duties, they said i can but wont get paid for it....... so no good with my employer. hub is very tired to care for 2 children under 3. his parents are in their mid 70's so couldnt ask them, and my parents both work. all my creditors are already on a £1 token system, some a fiver depends what they accept. totals about £35 p/m so cant shift on this. clothes havent been a priority, but hub got a bit of O/T last month which we all had a few new bits of clothing. my 2 youngest have birthdays this month 3 yr old got £90 so this will get her clothed for the summer and autumn, my baby is 1 in 3 weeks so will also get some money for clothes. thats sorted that out.dancingfairy wrote: »can you get work for the month in which you husband is off sick if he is fit enough to mind the kids? even if you just temp/work in a pub/corner shop etc? my cupboards are quite basic and not full, ive been old styling since november, and have gone from spending £120p/w to £50-£60p/w so cant see how i can get any lower apart from starving ourselves. you are right ive £917 p/m... instead of our usual £1950:eek: .
my mortage interest is £430 and they take a further £300 to reduce our balance p/m. total to find £730, to stop us getting into further problems.
electric is killing us as we have a debt on meter. we credit about £90p/m
gas wont be much about 10 or 20 quid.
council tax £80
car ins £35 car tax is due end of april too £80. its parked on the road, so will have to be taxed i guess, couldnt afford to lose it.
water rates £38
house ins £23
life ins £19
talk talk £38
sky £16
food £250
to service our debts we need basic money of around £1400. what an absolute mess this is now ive put it down in black and white. obviously the mortgage comes first in their eyes, so im up poo creek without a paddle.0 -
Hi
Are you signed up with www.freecycle.org - like e-bay but you get the good for free? I would seriously consider putting the little ones money towards the mortgage and getting some stuff off freecycle instead. What matters most, keeping a roof over their head or brand new clothes? After all, they will only spill juice down them?
I would suggest that you can cut the food back a fair bit, if only in the short-term. Go over to the the old style and have another word about the emergency situation. A month on budget baked beans or poached eggs on toast and a piece of fruit or some budget juice will not kill the kids.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
ok here are some off the wall suggestions to get you through the month. I hope you don't take offence
1) Could you pawn some jewellry for the cash
2) Tell your parents, they may not be able to help but maybe they could at least feed you once a week? Save a bit on the food budget.
3) Are you a member of a church. Some will do food parcels to help you though
4) Same with the Salvation Army you never know until you ask
5) Some one else has already mentioned the crisis loan from the DSS
6) Are either of you a member of a union? If so they often have crisis funds you may be able to access
7) Why is your OH only getting SSP, is there no pay from his employer?
8)You may not be able to go out to get a job in the evenings, but what about doing online surveys, daily clicks etc, even free bingo at Gala on a Thursday. That netted me £25 this week, and you don't even have to be at the pc to play (its automatice dabbing, and claiming if you are a winner). You don't need to deposit any money either.
9) Again with your parents, they may not be able to help financially, but do they have any 'stuff' that you could ebay for them, and then temporarily keep the proceeds (so they are loaning you the ebay money?)
Best of luck with sorting this
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

council tax £80 - can you arrange to pay this over 12 months to cut it slightly?
car ins £35 car tax is due end of april too £80. its parked on the road, so will have to be taxed i guess, couldnt afford to lose it.
water rates £38
house ins £23 - have you shopped around for this?
life ins £19- have you shopped around for this?
talk talk £38 - this seems quite high- what are you paying for here?
sky £16 - this really, really has to go I'm afraid.
food £250 - not sure how much you can get this down but maybe beans on toast etc for a while?
The electric is soo high. Can you complain or go back on to pay monthly? It seems extortionate.
Clothes - will your 3 year old and 1 year old really notice? I know where you are coming from but times must.
You can pay all the monthly figures but just can't pay off the mortgage arrears at the mo. Maybe you could pay the monthly and pay say £50 on top to show you are trying? It's not a great situation but it does show you are trying.
Have you tried CAB/your local councillor may be able to help?
Can you get free school meals for the 9 year old at school - that would help a bit.
Do you have a lidl/aldi or anything near you? what about getting fruit and veg from a market - is that cheaper?
You need to find about 500 a month. That's about 150 a week. Have a look on the 10 a day challenge or olympic challenge threads for ideas.Making my money go further with MSE :j
