Can U reclaim late pay fees etc when C Card company passes your debt 2 someone else

Hi there,

To try and cut a long story short, quite a few years ago my Credit Card bills got out of control. I burried my head in the sand and just did not pay any of them. Then after numerous nasty letters from the Credit Card company's I telephoned them to declare that I simply couldn't even meet the minimum payment no longer.
As you can imagine, whilst my card accounts were running I received lots of excessive late payment charges etc etc many times way before I gave up on them. Eventually, after the Credit Card companies deliberated over what to do with my accounts, a few months, later and even larger account balances because they had not frozen my accounts even though they knew I couldn't meet the minimum payments. They then wrote back to me informing me that my debts have now been passed to debt collection agencies.
For the last few years I have been paying a negoitated amount back to the collection agencies and all interest has been frozen. I am really struggling to answer the following questions below. I would appreciate any ideas on what to do.:confused::confused:
1. Who do I reclaim any excessive charges form hence,do I write to the CC company's or the debt collection agencies who are now "managing" my debt?
2. How will this affect my monthly repayment amounts knowing that I have annoyed them? Are they likely to request higher monthly payments?

Any claim you make is against the Credit Card company as they're the ones who levied the charges.

If it's been passed to a debt collector, you can let them know, the debt is under dispute and ask them to pass it back to the credit card company.
  • I shall look into further the advise that you have given me. Thanks, nickmack much appreciated.
