Have I Got A Case Against This Bank

In November 2005 I moved house. I made a mistake of using a broker with the estate agent. I got a deal through them with my original bank, that I had on my current property at the time.
I was in the middle of a 2 year fixed deal. I sold and was advised by the bank that I would be charged an early repayment charge. I rang the bank and questioned it, they told me to ignore the letter and said as I was staying with them and increasing my mortgage, I would not be charged.
Not true, they charged me approximately £2,100 and after various letters and discussion and internal investigation (they said) refunded £842 They said as I moved to a new product the chares applied. Which I think was wrong after having been told me to ignore the charges. After so long, should I pursue them for the rest?

Bump please advise if you can.
  • Depends what the charge was for, and what your original mortgage contract had with regards to leaving the deal early. Are any associated costs to do with the broker as well?
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
