Question about renting a room in a shared house

My landlady has announced she wants to do an inspection of the shared house in which I rent a room. I wondered if anyone could enlighten me if there is any legal guideline type thing
which says whether she is allowed to insist on seeing my room or if she ought only be looking at the communal areas. I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea of her going in my room especially as I won't be there at the time.
Also, can anybody recommend any good websites which have any information about the legalities concerning renting a room in a shared house? I've looked at CAB and shelter's websites but there isn't a lot of information about my situation.
