Did you mention the purchase price when you rang up? Some sols charge slightly more for higher value property. Also leasehold purchases cost more. You'd also need to check exactly what disbursements were involved as search fees and a few other things are more expensive for certain property types and purchase prices. Bear this in mind before ripping her head off
Just ask her what the extra 183.50 is for over the standard price. 0 -
Yes, be careful with brokers/ifa's, my daughter and her partner bought 2 years ago and used someone recommended by her partners parents. They thought they would get "looked after", as he had advised her partners parents and friends for years. He charged a fee of £350 and provided buildings, contents and life cover.
When they received all the paperwork, they were shocked at all of the commision he had made - over £3k. They were also shocked when I told them they had paid more for their buildings & contents than we had, they have a nice 2 bed semi, we have a 5 bed. At the end of the first year they went on line and got their insurances for well under half of that found for them by the advisor.
An advisor's job is to make money and they will make it from you which ever way they can.0 -
