I have listed an item that is now on £200. I stated loads that I won't accept a bid from anyone with 0 feedback. today someone bid who has only just registered today and has no feedback nor is bidding on any other items!!! it is annoying cos I had to go and cancel his bid and the previous person is still winning the item!! Do you think this looks dodgey for me if this happens again, I don't want people to think I am bidding on my own items and retracting the bid if I get the winning bid! but I don't want to be left with a scam!! I have added this person to my block bidders list but what more can I do?

I think its a shame to blacklist people with no feedback - we all had to start somewhere.
I would have emailed them about it instead, and said I would only accept cheque payments from zero feedback bidders, and wait till it clears before the item is sent.0 -
Unfortunately Angel I think you are stuck. When i was selling a couple of mobiles a year ago had a similair problem, I had asked politely in the listing for newly registered zero feedback bidders to contact me first and still had people bid. I decided not to pull their bids but to email them first and just ask if they were happy they were making a firm offer to buy (yes i know I can't enfore that) and that I would expect them to have their payment methods sorted out, especially if they were planning to use paypal, before the end of the auction.
If they replied I let their bid stand, if they didn't respond in 36 hours I pulled the bid.

I'm a newbie to Ebay so I have no feedback either. However I've already bought a couple of things.
Why does feedback matter if you are a buyer? Of the two things I've bought I've had to pay for them both by paypal so the sellers will get their money.0 -
This might help in future
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/buyer-requirements.htmlLife should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0 -
I use all those requirements however it doesnt stop people bidding who only have a 0 feedback. I have also listed items that specify that only people with paypal can bid, but I have had a winning bidder who had a paypal account and feedback of over 25 but still didnt pay. You will always encounter people that dont pay but you can a dispute and get both your listing and end of auction fees back. So I simply just chill if they dont pay just file a dispute, a non payer strike and relist dont let it get to you.0

Now you have me worried Angelcake! I bid for two items on ebay today and I really want them and would always honour my bid if I am accepted! Don't you have to start somewhere???Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

For significant cost items i always put something along the lines of 'due to scammers and non payers, ebayers with zero or significant negative feedback must contact me in advance with full address and phone number details otherwise your bid will be cancelled'. I will then check out their details to make sure they are valid. That way you can usually weed out the sheep from the goats. Also i keep a close eye on expensive items i am auctioning for last minute 0 bidders and cancel them if they haven't abidded by the above terms.
Might seem harsh, but i think its fair as it allows zero feedback ebayers to bid.0 -
I do what pgilc1 does as well. I'm afraid I can't take the risk with new bidders. Saying that new genuine bidders don't mind me calling them and in that case there's no problem.
I also cancel any bids from someone with no feedback who hasn't contacted me, and this is stated in the auction. This is what I normally write in my auctions:
Please, serious bidders only. If you have no feedback or negative feedback please email me before bidding with a contact phone number, otherwise I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL YOUR BID."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

Firstly the item is on £200 so why would a newbie who doesn't know ebay bid soooo much on their first transaction!!??
The reason I block these people is because they obviously haven't adhered to my auction rules! (not the only reason) I have stated that I only accept people with feedback over 20. I know a lot of you are going to blast me but I have been on ebay a long time and have got stung too many times to care about one bid which may have rasied the price by £1 or so! The person whos bid I cancelled has not bothered to contact me so I would rather be safe then sorry! I haven't got a probelm with newbies bidding on other stuff its just I really need the money for this so am trying my best to ensure I get it!!
one person I have blocked I had an email from, asking why he is blocked. I sent an email back stating my auction terms. he replied saying he has every intention of buying so I took him from the list!!
I might as well put in the auction that it is for a link only!!!! people don't bother reading it!!!

well as i see it angel its entirely up to you who you accept bids from in your auction, if your not happy taking the risk of zero feedback buyers bidding without e-mailing you thats perfectly understandable on a expensive item.as youve mentioned it in your auction and they dont even take the time to read it properly thats hardly your fault is it.
