I've been googling this but not come up with much. Is it possible to have your gmail messages pushed to your mobile phone - Windows Mobile in my case? I don't have Microsoft Outlook as some solutions seem to need.

    In a word: yes

Fully of forwarding goodness for gmail, Outlook, and even Lotus Notes.... I can't live without it.

I downloaded Emoze and started to install it but started asking about Active Sync and Outlook so I stopped because I don't have Outlook and don't wish to pay for it. Can I get away with just Active Sync although I don't understand why it needs it?
  • Use imap? Just like pop3 but all your folders are synchronised no matter where you access it.

For the gmail help on it - http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=12806

    Wikipedia's attempt at explaining it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imap

Often a little slower on the computer while in synchs but whether you use your mobile or your mates Mac etc you see the same messages (ie all of them) at will.

If your application allows it use IDLE command as this will show changes to the Gmail account without having 'refresh' or 'reload' the mail.

I sorted it in the end with a mail2web live account. I set up forwarding in my Gmail account to my mail2web account and this pushes the mail to my mobile via active sync.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

You just needed to install the emoze client on your mobile - nothing required on the computer. Visit http://www.emoze.com/en/get/emoze.to.push.my/index.asp and click "Push My GMail".
