Tumble drier, always. We have the world's smallest house and no room for driers etc, and the back yard is on a direct flightpath for ducks who make ever such a mess of your washing :rotfl:.

As I've never used a drier in the house, does it not make the rooms damp having all that washing hanging, especially as lots of people don't have the heating on either?
But how do you dry the things that can't be tumbled? I did a wash load last night and checked the labels on everything, over half said "don't tumble dry".

Spring and Autumn are awful for drying clothes, too wet outside but not cold enough to put the heating on so washing takes ages to dry.

  • i put everything on hangers and hang them off the bedroom door frames, looks mad and a bit of an obsticle course but they dry better than on an airer. :j

I know that not everyone has an airing cupboard nowadays so this will only help some of you......

I have rigged mine out with a hanging rail for shirts etc and use the shelving for the other stuff. Stuff will easily dry in there within a day, so one load goes in there straight from the machine. If I am doing a second load, it gets put on a clothes horse to start it's drying and gets swapped to the airing cupboard to finish off once lot number one is dry.
  • struggling atm to be honest......

even when the forecast is good the mist seems to linger and it takes ages to dry.

Have a JML drybuddy and it's sadly inuse at the moment!

What is it like? I am tempted to buy one, but haven't seen any reviews for it.
  • I got a dehumidifer at the weekend because we had a bit of damp in one of our rooms- it sorted that out, and dried 3 loads of washing which was on a rack nearby within 12 hours (had been taking 4-5days)!

Get 1 or 2 sets of these - there are 4 to a pack (4.99 a pack) and then hang them over your doors. I then put tops on hangers and trousers/skirts on the clippy hangers. You can hang at least 2 items per rail, so 8 items this way

Means you can get away with less ironing too :D
  • I put things on hangers and hang them via hooks the in the garage,

I think between us, we have about 7 items that can't be tumble dried, and these go on the towel rail when they need to dry. Everything else gets bunged in the drier -I check the labels in clothes before I buy them to make sure they can be dried this way, and also that they don't need ironing - life's just too short! :D
