Income insurance?

My partners son is self employed and is looking for an insurance policy which would cover his income if he were to have an accident.

Does anyone know of any companies which have this type of cover and could maybe recommend a suitable company?

Thanks in advance

Most of the mainstream providers offer permanent health insurance (PHI). It comes in budget, standard and comprehensive form and is available through all IFAs. Internet coverage is weak (as its not really suited to the cherry picking, easy processing that the internet is ideal for) and many of the companies will not quote their products on quote portals and require a manual quote to be obtained.

  • One word of advice, do not get Income Protection with the Co-operative Insurance or Unum. especially when you are self employed. they will not pay out, does not matter what medical evidence you submitt, they are the worst Insurance Companies on this planet.

Unam do a pretty rubbish budget income protection plan but also do some very good PHI policies.

If you intend to be critical about a product/provider then please do so with some facts. For example, PHI policies will pay out if self employed. Also, you should state what type of plan you have as income protection could be a payment protection, a mortage protection policy, a budget income protection or a standard or comprehensive PHI policy.
