Proof of Disassociation for credit agencies?

When I was at university I had a joint account with someone I lived with for house bills and have been trying to close it for ages. Barcalys want us both to go in and sign the paperwork which I am trying to arrange (up to now haven't been able to track the person down).
My question is how do I let the credit agencies know about the disassociation? Do I tell all 3 listed in Martins article? Should I be using a template letter, is one available? Do I need to prove the account closure to these agencies in any way and if so what do I need to provide?
Thanks for your help, I searched on the forum but couldn't find these answers.

Firstly I've got to say that you must be very brave to have a joint bank account with a house mate! (That's how it read first off...)
I did mine online with Experian - creditexpert.co.uk - just filled the form in, they checked it out and then wrote to tell me it had been removed; Equifax had no record of the association; Call Credit sent me a form to fill in and post back.
Our account was with HSBC.
So apart from Equifax, no letters were needed.
Hope this helps

Thanks Marc, your info is much appreciated. Yes, it was an account with a housemate, looking back now it was more hassle than it was worth. It's been about 4/5 years since I last saw the person and it became easy to ignore it and just hope that he wasn't building bad credit! - Not smart I know.
I have found the form on the Experian site so will get this started as soon as I can get the account closed.

Thanks.
Hi again
You may have already seen an active post on here about closing a joint account where one party can't get the other to sign/visit the branch etc.
If not - make sure the accounts is frozen and explain to the bank about the other person not complying if they won't authorise the account closure with you. It happened to me where an ex decided to be very childish and difficult and actually instructed the bank to keep it open! (Though they rang me to check if there was still a dispute to which I informed them we had been separated for months and had not seen each other in this time) I faxed them a letter and signed, and due to him messing them around and lying on the phone they got a manager in the dept I was talking to to authorise the closure and it was sorted.
