I bought a pack of these BenQ 52x speed disks about a year ago for £15 and not a single one has failed yet. the price was later dropped to £11 but I still have a few left so haven't bought anymore yet. I see today they have dropped again to just £8. unbelieveable, just 8p a CD. how can they make them so cheap?!

SVP do CD-R for around £7 - £9 per 100, the Datawrite ones are excellent for £2 per 25.
You do wonder how they are so cheap these days, but then again you can now get the latest DVD writer technology for £30 and blank DVDs from as little as 15p each. I remember the days when CD writers were £55 odd (Yes, I paid that much for one) and CD-R were 50p per disc!

It's true that the delivery is a bit extortionate - I guess I didn't mind when I ordered as I was getting a new HD at same the time.
The delivery works out a bit cheaper the more you order, though. So as long as you plan on ordering 99 packs of these (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Prod...roductID=183753) it'll work out as 5p a disc!
Having said that, I've no idea if the discs are crap or not (yet).0 -

I remember paying about £150 for my HP 2x CD writer and was quite chuffed at the time when jungle.co.uk were selling TDK CD-Rs for £9.99 for a box of 10, bargain!

I remember too. My first Philips CD Writer was £180 back in 1998ish. I then bought the first NEC DVD Writer (2x) when they came out at £190! They're only £30 or so nowadays. Madness."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
