AVAST! INI file modification

I am constantly getting a message box on screen with the heading Avast! INI file modification - a program is attempting to modify an avast INI file ... Do you want to continue? I always click the No button. I want to delete whatever it is. Does anyone know anything about this and how I get rid of it? I would be grateful for any help, I'm not very technical.

Does it say which file or program is trying to modify it?

I started getting this problem today, googled it and ended up here. Has anybody got a solution?

OK I did a further search and found this on Avast Forum, seems to be troubling a few people

"The alert is coming from a new self-defense function of avast that has been introduced in avast 4.8.

If this is causing you problems in using your system them you can temporarily disable this function via:

avast Program Settings > Troubleshooting > check the "Disable avast self-defense ... " box > OK

Disabling this feature does not affect the other antivirus protection of avast and will leave you no worse off than you were with avast 4.7. However, please keep an eye out for the next update to avast and remember to go back and uncheck the box to see if the latest avast updates have taken care of the problems you are encountering"

Hope somebody else can use this.
