Just 2 hours ago i drove and hit another car from behind..
The driver front of me speeded first then breaked all the sudden..+ wet road
And i hit the car and the damages worse on mine..
Anyway... im insured with MoreThan with fully comp policy.
Also have 4 years bonus protected..
So what's going to happen now? (this is my 1st accident in my life.)
Will my insurance go up now?
I think the car will be ride off because of the age of it.
So when i get a new car and insure it does it effect anything?
I haven't reported to insurance company yet going to do that on the morning.. What should i tell them? and advice..
Also my PocketPC (GPS) damaged does it cover?

Going backwards
1. No your PocketPC is not covered.
2. You have to tell the insurance company the truth
3. Not sure what you mean about when you get the new car. In theory, your insurance will not rise just because of this as you have protected no claims. You would be wise to shop around though as the base price of the policy might rise before the bonus is applied to it.
4. As to what happens now, your insurers will send someone to assess your car if it is not driveable or you might have to take it to a garage of their choice if it is. The damage will be assessed and the car repaired or written off. If it is written off you will need to agree a valuation with them and they will pay you off. I am not sure if you can then buy another car and transfer the policy to that car, hopefully someone else will know.
5. Presumably the police weren't called and no-one was injured. Nothing further should happen then in respect of the accident itself. However, it wasn't until later that I had symptoms from my accident so there could well be a personal injury claim in the offing. If you receive any correspondence or communication of any kind from the other driver or their insurers, you must notify your own insurers immediately. Your insurers will contact the driver directly and arrange for their car to be sorted out or paid off, depending on the damage. You need do nothing more, although I would have appreciated the other driver ringing me after a few days to apologise and check I was alright.0 -
police was called in.. i did.. because after the incident i gave my details..
there was 4 ppl in the car. 2 guys and 2 girls.. one of the girl droved.
she is a new driver.
after i gave my details they delayed with given me theirs details i got worked
up i asked and asked and then doubt something was wrong maybe not her car or not insured.
so i threaten her im going to call police and did..
All of them rung around dont know who and what they spoke.
they dont really tell what's going on...
then police came and police got her details to me..
one of the guy looks like drunk and smelled.
plus the car was blocked the road..0 -
Did the police indicate whether you would be reported for driving without due care and attention?0

Strictly speaking, if you have a car insurance policy in respect of one car, and that car is written off and they pay out, the policy is over and they can say "on your bike"*. In practice, most insurers aren't so harsh and they'll allow you to transfer the policy to a new car (subject to any adjustment in premium due to insurance group/age/whatever).
* Which includes, for the avoidance of doubt, you having to pay up any outstanding instalments if you are paying monthly.0 -

no police didnt say anything like that..it was wet road too..
police actually didnt write down anything they checked if the cars was
insured on the phone then told us to swap details..
asked if we are injured.. then left.
Rung MoreTh>n but thet dont take new claim until monday because the car is driveble.
I DONT WANT MY INSURNCE GO UP!
Lets see whats happening...
Is MoreTh>n good company? anyone have experince?0 -
The accident was your fault so clearly your insurance is going to go up. It doesn't matter if the road was wet, it is your duty to maintain a sufficient distance behind taking into account the road conditions. So although your bonus is protected, the calculation of the base price isn't and this is where you can get stung.
It could be worse, the police could have decided to prosecute which would have cost you even more.0 -

Bossyboots is right. If the police left you both to go on your way then all you can do now is let the insurers deal with it.
Your own car should be repaired under your own insurance and you will have to pay any excess. The other insurers can also claim against your insurance plus they could, if they wished, make a personal injury claim against you.
All of this will mean that your insurance will go up unless you had a fully protected no claims bonus. You may even find that the insurer will look to increase your excess in future as well.
This could have been a lot worse, the police could have prosecuted you which may have resulted in a fine and points on your license which will have affected your insurance even more. The main thing really is though that you are OK, the car and the insurance whilst worrying is less of an issue than you own life and health.

So i had little luck in bad luck after all..
In the car they were 4 youth (18-22) it was 11.30pm and was raining before.
And they drove 25mph on 40mph road so i was following them like 1.5miles
then sudden they increased in speed.. so i did then they breaked fully..
I told them yes it my fault we was not fighting about that..
The thing is they were talking nosense and didnt give me the driver's details..
I wonder why they did that..
Then i called police...
Should i tell all this to MoreThan ?0 -
Right from your first post, I suspected that the car you hit may have had something not quite right about it and what you have now put strengthens my view. It could be the driver was nervous in the dark on a wet road which would explain the initial slow speed. We can only surmise as to why they didn't give the driver's details, I know what I think.
As for telling More Than. Yes I think you should. It may be that the details you have been given were not actually those of the driver but one of the passengers who happens to have car insurance. Explain to More Than that you think there might be something a bit dodgy about it all. That will give them the chance, if they choose to, to check out whether the driver was actually insured or whether there is reason to suspect that the person making the claim was not the driver. Failing to disclose all material facts would be an offence on the part of the other driver.
However, as you were clearly at fault, More Than may just say hands up its our liability but at least if you give them the chance to investigate a potential fraud, they cant come back on you later on. I am not sure how far their liability extends to having the other car repaired if it can be shown that it was being driven illegally but I suspect that they are liable either way.0 -
I'm not sure that the details of the other car are going to have any material difference in this case. 'More than' have the liability and unless they planned to counter claim or do knock for knock, which where one driver is clearly at fault would be unusual, they don't need to be involved with the other insurers at all.
If there was something not quite right about the other car then it would have been a police matter and they were clearly not bothered. If the OP believes that something illegal was taking place then it would be his word against the other driver, and again why would it matter? More than will be the company dealing with the claim.
If the accident had been les clear cut then More than would be more interested in the other insurance details as they would possibly go for knock for knock, and if that had been the case, which it isn't here, then the OP would actually lose out if the other driver was not insured.
Leave it to More than to sort out, there is no advantage at all in saying what you 'think' about the other car, it serves no purpose. Just concentrate on getting repairs to your car and negotiating what sort of hit you will take on your insurance premiums.
It would actually be best if the other driver never turned up again as then you couldn't be expected to pay for his repairs through your insurance.
